Did you know the Life Chapel in Petaling Jaya started with humble home prayer meetings? It all began in 1967. Several members from the Jalan Gasing Gospel Hall took on the challenge of spreading Christianity in Section 14. Imagine those early days. Small gatherings in someone’s home. This simple beginning transformed into the Life Chapel we see today.
The Life Chapel isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to faith and community. For nineteen years it thrived in a shop house on Jalan 17/12. It wasn’t always easy. Growth brought its own challenges. The congregation expanded from 33 members to over 100 in just ten years. This rapid growth spurred the establishment of various ministries. Sunday schools young people’s groups and ladies’ gatherings blossomed within the Life Chapel.
The Life Chapel’s dedication extended beyond its walls. They supported the Sungei Way Christian Church. They even started a Sunday school and Bible study classes in Damansara Utama. The Life Chapel’s influence spread far. It fostered the Shah Alam Gospel Centre in 1989. A constant desire to share the gospel shaped the Life Chapel’s identity.
A significant milestone was the purchase of a large plot of land in 1971. The goal? A permanent home in Section 17. Thirteen long years and many obstacles later approval came. Construction presented further struggles. Yet the Life Chapel persevered moving into its current location at 9 Jalan 17/21E on June 22 1986.
Today the Life Chapel continues its mission. New ministries like the Day Training Centre and Parent & Child Corner have emerged. The Bidor Gospel Centre in Perak demonstrates the Life Chapel’s ongoing expansion. Generations have come and gone. The Life Chapel has witnessed life’s full spectrum joy sorrow triumphs and heartaches. Through it all one thing remains certain. God’s unwavering presence and protection have been their constant shield. The Life Chapel’s story is a journey of faith perseverance and unwavering devotion. A story written through prayer dedication and community.
