Have you heard of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith? This church has a fascinating history. It’s actually the second building for the congregation in this very spot. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith has called 701 S. 22nd Street home since 1948. They moved here from a smaller location near Temple University. Imagine, in 1958, a massive fire swept through the church. Over 1,500 people were inside as the fire broke out just after a service. Tragically, a young girl lost her life to smoke inhalation. But from the ashes, the congregation rose. They poured their hearts and souls into rebuilding. Brick by brick, the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith was reconstructed. Amazingly, it took them only 11 months! The church you see today stands as a testament to their faith and resilience. They rebuilt not just a building, but a symbol of hope and community.
