Peeking out from the orange facade are numerous plants. We are standing before the Osaka Organic Building. This unique structure embodies symbiosis with nature.

The Osaka Organic Building stuns with its design. It has 132 flowerpots on its walls. Narrow slit windows add to its distinctive look. Gaetano Pesce designed this building.

Pesce was an Italian architect and designer. His vision brought a bold idea to life. The building stands in Osaka’s Minami-船場 district.

The concept was coexistence. Greenery, buildings, and people would unite. Each flowerpot holds a different plant species.

Despite facing west the plants thrive. This is a testament to nature’s resilience. The Osaka Organic Building challenges urban norms. It suggests resistance instead of harmony.

Inside the Osaka Organic Building design continues. The entrance hall features colorful objects. Even the company nameplate changes colors.

Originally, the building used computer controls. This regulated watering and fertilization. Later they switched to self-sustaining species.

Pruning can be difficult because of the design. Each plant appears unique. The Osaka Organic Building’s design is striking.

The building has nine floors above ground. There is also one basement floor. The structure uses steel reinforced concrete.

Completed in February 1993, it won a Good Design Award in 1994.近鉄不動産 acquired the building in 2023.

The Osaka Organic Building is near subways. It is close to Shinsaibashi and Hommachi Stations. The building is home to various tenants. These include apparel businesses and design firms.

小倉屋山本, a venerable konbu shop founded in 1848, planned this building. UDコンサルタンツ realized Pesce’s vision. The Osaka Organic Building is more than just a building. It’s a statement. It is a fusion of nature and architecture.
