Constructed in 1949, the Gorelovsky Puteprovod stands as a testament to post-war resilience. This overpass, spanning the bustling Gatchina railway line, has a story to tell. It began with the vision of the 17th Construction Directorate of the Main Directorate of Highway Construction under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. The Gorelovsky Puteprovod was more than just a bridge. It was a lifeline, a symbol of connection in a divided city. Initially, the overpass boasted two lanes for vehicles and two cantilever sidewalks for pedestrians.

The Gorelovsky Puteprovod has seen its share of challenges and transformations. In 2012, specialists from Mostotrest, commissioned by the city government, meticulously inspected the overpass. Their findings revealed the need for extensive repairs. Traffic flow was temporarily halted, causing disruption for commuters. The overpass underwent its first major reconstruction. This involved strengthening the existing structure and improving safety features.

Just a few years later, in 2014, another legal battle erupted between Mostotrest and the city. Mostotrest sought compensation for what they claimed was unpaid work on the Gorelovsky Puteprovod. The dispute highlighted the complexities of public infrastructure projects. This also underscored the importance of clear agreements and communication.

The Gorelovsky Puteprovod continued to evolve with the city’s growing needs. In 2018, the first phase of a new renovation project began. This ambitious undertaking aimed to create a wider, more modern overpass to accommodate increased traffic volume. By the end of 2018, the old Gorelovsky Puteprovod and its adjoining support structures were completely demolished. The stage was set for a complete rebirth.

In 2020, the second phase of the project reached completion. A new, six-lane Gorelovsky Puteprovod emerged. This new overpass stretches an impressive 50 meters, a significant upgrade from its original 76-meter length. The new design also features a single, centrally located reinforced concrete span for increased stability and longevity. The Gorelovsky Puteprovod now stands as a symbol of progress and innovation, while honoring its past. It continues to serve as a vital artery, connecting communities and facilitating the flow of life in Saint Petersburg.
