Across the Charles River, in the vibrant city of Boston, stands Cambridge College. It’s not just another brick-and-mortar institution. It’s a testament to dreams realized and opportunities created. Cambridge College began as a dream in 1971. A small group of educators envisioned an innovative graduate program. It was designed for working adults from all backgrounds. These were people who lacked access to traditional higher education. This dream materialized as the Institute of Open Education (IOE). It welcomed almost 100 students in its inaugural class in July 1971. The IOE later joined the Antioch University Network. Cambridge College officially became an independent, private, non-profit institution in 1981. In 1986, Cambridge College expanded its presence. It opened its main campus in the greater Boston area. The college continued to grow. By 2000, it had established regional centers in California, Puerto Rico, and other locations. In 2017, Cambridge College consolidated its Cambridge locations. It moved to a single campus in the Hood Office Park in Charlestown. In a significant development in March 2020, Cambridge College acquired the New England College of Business and Finance. This institution had a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1909. It started as the Boston chapter of the American Institute of Banking. In 2021, the newly acquired college was rebranded as Cambridge College Global. This became the online division of Cambridge College. Then, in 2024, Bay Path University acquired Cambridge College. This merger brought together two institutions with shared values. Cambridge College’s journey reflects its commitment to accessibility and innovation. It has empowered countless working adults to pursue their educational aspirations. Cambridge College stands as a beacon of opportunity. It continues to transform lives through education.
