Whose foot could that be? Before you stands a giant. A colossal bronze foot. It’s the Uwe-Seeler-Fuß. This isn’t just any foot. This is a monument. A tribute to a legend. Uwe Seeler. A Hamburg icon.

The Uwe-Seeler-Fuß is impressive. It’s over five meters tall. It weighs four tons. The sculptor Brigitte Schmitges created this bronze behemoth. She based it on a mold she made of Seeler’s actual foot in 1998. The foot isn’t just large. It’s detailed too. You can even see Seeler’s oversized signature etched on the foot’s shaft.

This wasn’t just a random project. Hamburger businessman Andreas Maske commissioned it. He wanted to honor Seeler’s incredible career. Seeler played 239 Bundesliga games scoring 137 goals. He also played 72 games for the German national team. He scored 43 goals for his country. He was a German champion in 1960. He even won the German Cup in 1963. He was part of four World Cup teams. In 1966 he was even a World Cup runner-up. Three times he was named Footballer of the Year.

The Uwe-Seeler-Fuß isn’t alone. It sits in an oval green space. Around it are bronze footprints and handprints. These are from other important HSV players coaches and even masseurs. Maske calls this area the “Walk of Fame”. A metal plate in the ground reads For people who leave their mark. The Walk of Fame started in 2006. It keeps growing. Adding more names to Hamburg’s football history.

The Uwe-Seeler-Fuß is more than just a large foot. It’s a symbol. A reminder of a great player and a greater man. A symbol of Hamburg’s football heritage. It’s a testament to a lifetime of dedication skill and sportsmanship. It’s a must-see for any visitor to Hamburg. Especially for football fans. A true icon. A giant among giants. The Uwe-Seeler-Fuß.
