What does the name Wenquan mean? It means Hot Spring. We are in Wenquan Area, a special place in Beijing’s Haidian District. It’s both an area and a town.
Wenquan sits to the west of Haidian District. It shares borders with several other towns and subdistricts. Xibeiwan Town is to the east. Xiangshan Subdistrict lies to the southeast. Junzhuang Town is southwest of here. Sujiatuo Town is to the west and north.
Back in 2020, Wenquan had 69,165 people living here. That is quite a lot of people. This gives a density of about 2,100 people per square kilometer.
The name Wenquan comes from a hot spring. This hot spring is located north of Tangzi Mountain. It makes this area special.
Wenquan has changed over the years. In 1949, Wenquan Town was part of Peiping’s 13th District. Then in 1953, it became Wenquan Township. By 1956, Baijiatong Township joined it.
In 1958, Wenquan became part of Yongfeng People’s Commune. But this did not last long. By 1961, it separated from Yongfeng. It formed its own commune.
Later in 1978, Wenquan joined Dongbeiwang People’s Commune. In 1984, it went back to being a township. By 1997, it changed into a town. Since 2011, Wenquan is an area. But it still keeps its status as a town.
Today, Wenquan is made up of 20 subdivisions. These include 13 communities. There are also 2 villages and 5 residential areas.
Wenquan Community is one of these. Baijiatong Community is another. You will also find Hangcaiyuan Community. Sanlingsisuo Community is another. Xiyi Community is also part of Wenquan.
Other communities include Yiyang Yiqu Community. Also Yiyang Erqu Community. Yangzhuang Community is here too. As well as Chenshang Community. Kaisheng Jiayuan Community is another.
Wenquan Shui’an Jiayuan Community is one. Huanbaoyuan Community is part of Wenquan. Chuanke Community is as well.
The villages include Wenquan Village. Also Baijiatong Village. The residential areas are Gaolizhangcun Cooperative Residential Area. Xinzhuangcun Cooperative Residential Area is one. Yangjiazhuangcun Cooperative Residential Area is another. Taizhouwucun Cooperative Residential Area is part of Wenquan. And also Dongfutoucun Cooperative Residential Area.
