Step into Center Hill Park! You are standing in the heart of a West Atlanta community, a place where history, nature, and recreation intertwine. This 46-acre oasis along Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway is more than just a park; it’s a gathering place. Center Hill is becoming a cornerstone for the surrounding neighborhoods echoing the mayor’s vision of creating spaces where residents can live, work, and play.
The park has seen its fair share of transformations. Once a landscape filled with heavy trees and undergrowth, it has been strategically redesigned. A testament to this renaissance is the new trail and bridge that gracefully spans Proctor Creek, connecting both halves of the park.
This bridge, built with a Legacy Grant from Park Pride, was a community effort. The Friends of Center Hill Park, an energetic group of local neighbors, spearheaded the project. Their vision was to enhance the park’s accessibility for all, encouraging both legacy and new residents to enjoy its amenities.
Beyond the bridge, the revitalized Center Hill Park offers a plethora of recreation opportunities. Grab a basketball and shoot hoops at one of the two full courts, complete with lights and a set of bleachers. You can choose the open court or even play under cover. If baseball or soccer is your thing, you can head to the multi-use athletic field or the converted tennis court.
Finally, Center Hill Park offers a perfect balance of urban green space and community life. With its playground, splash pad, picnic areas, and even a police precinct, this park is the beating heart of a vibrant community.
