In 1874, a seed was planted. That seed was Miyakeyanagida Elementary School. It sprouted in Settsu City, Osaka. Today, we stand before the modern incarnation of that seed: Settsu City Miyakeyanagida Elementary School. The school has seen many changes since its humble beginnings. Initially known as Miya Elementary School, it transformed with the times. It became Miya Village Miya Elementary School in 1947. It even briefly held the name Satsuki City Miya Elementary School in 1957, before becoming Satsuki City and Mishima Town School Association Miya Elementary School in 1960. The city grew, and so did the need for education. In 1979, Settsu City Yanagida Elementary School was established to accommodate the growing population. But as time marched on, student numbers dwindled. In a significant shift, the two schools merged in 2008, combining their legacies at the former Yanagida Elementary School site. The current Settsu City Miyakeyanagida Elementary School carries the torch of both institutions. The school offers a standard elementary education, serving both boys and girls. As of 2008, it held the school code B127210008350. It’s nestled here in the Gakuencho district. Interestingly, graduating students primarily advance to Settsu City Third Junior High School, continuing their educational journey within the city. The school has seen much in its lifetime. From curriculum changes to mergers, Settsu City Miyakeyanagida Elementary School reflects the evolving landscape of Japanese education. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of community and the importance of nurturing young minds.
