Have you ever wondered why a church goes by two different names? West Oaks Baptist Church in Houston is a testament to change and growth. It all started in 1985 when Pastor Frank Estes established it under the name “Grace Church”. The early church met in homes, hotel conference rooms, and office buildings. This was the early vision of a fledgling community coming together, a humble beginning, yet one full of hope for the future. They even purchased a small, permanent space on Schiller Road in West Houston. Pastor Frank longed for a space that could better serve the growing community, so he proposed the idea of building a proper church. The church members and the community rallied behind the vision, and in 1999, construction began at their current location on Richmond Avenue, just off of Highway 6. The name itself evolved from “Grace Church” to “West Oaks Fellowship”. The leaders wanted to rebrand the church to better identify with its community, and so, “West Oaks Fellowship” was born. Now, West Oaks Baptist Church stands in all its glory, a testament to community and faith. Its mission is to nurture a diverse and welcoming community, committed to following God fearlessly. It’s a place where people can find peace, solace, and a place to connect with others. The story of this church is a story of growth, change, and unwavering faith, making it a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who visit.
