On a radiant Friday in June 2014, the Hazreti Ebubekir Camii opened its doors to the community. Yenimahalle Mayor Fethi Yaşar, at the inauguration ceremony, expressed his honor at opening the mosque. He remarked on the auspiciousness of a Friday opening. Yaşar emphasized the role of places of worship like Hazreti Ebubekir Camii as havens of peace. He noted their importance in fostering love, respect, and harmony. He spoke against conflict and hatred. Yaşar affirmed his commitment to serving the community. He promised continued support for schools and health facilities, much like the support given to construct the Hazreti Ebubekir Camii. The Hazreti Ebubekir Camii addressed a significant need in the Batıkent Turgut Özal neighborhood. It was the only mosque situated on the main street. The area, with a population of 30,000, had faced a shortage of mosques. The Hazreti Ebubekir Camii, with a capacity of 1,500 people, became a place where the community could comfortably practice their faith. The mosque, a three-year project significantly supported by the Yenimahalle Municipality, also hosted its first Friday prayer on its opening day. Yenimahalle Mufti Eyyup Demir offered a prayer at the opening, wishing Mayor Yaşar a long and prosperous life. He extended his gratitude to everyone involved in the mosque’s construction. Demir highlighted the special significance of mosques as branches of the Kaaba, praying for the blessing of more such places of worship.
