“Wer ein Kunstwerk verstehen und genieu00dfen will der gehe und kaufe einen Stuhl” said Anselm Feuerbach. This quote embodies the spirit of diekleinegalerie. It means “to understand and enjoy a work of art go and buy a chair”. Settle at the right distance. Seek to forget your venerable self for at least a quarter of an hour in silent persistence.
Welcome to diekleinegalerie a space for art and discourse in Berlin-Friedenau. Norbert Hu00fcmbs runs diekleinegalerie. It is located at Gou00dflerstrau00dfe 21. The postcode is 12161 Berlin.
diekleinegalerie is more than just a gallery. It is a platform for artistic expression. It is also a place for meaningful conversations. Diekleinegalerie embraces the idea that art should be accessible. Art invites reflection.
Sigmund Freud once said “Everything that promotes cultural development also works against war”. This quote resonates deeply with the mission of diekleinegalerie. Diekleinegalerie fosters understanding through art. It contributes to a more peaceful world.
Currently diekleinegalerie features the exhibition “Leben und Weben”. This translates to “Life and Weaving”. Florence Obrecht and Mirja Gastaldi are the featured artists. They work with textiles embroidery painting and drawing. Both artists share an interest in depicting the human figure especially women. They also like combining painting and textile techniques. Techniques like sewing embroidery and making garments. The presence of costumes also plays a role in their paintings.
Mirja Gastaldi connects her drawings with textiles and other objects. She extracts individual elements from their original context. She creates new relationships in her compositions. Florence Obrecht’s work includes painting drawing and ceramics. Her ceramic objects include her Memory Jugs. They are inspired by African-American pop culture.
Textile techniques and materials traditionally linked to the female role challenge traditional gender stereotypes. The title “Leben und Weben” reflects this. It represents the artists personalities and their work.
