The Overseas Campus Stanford University is more than a building. It’s a living testament to history. The original Haus Cramer was built in 1912. The Cramer family lived there until 1933. They emigrated to the US shortly after the Nazis seized power. Sadly a gas explosion in the 1950s left the villa in ruins. It was almost demolished in the mid-1970s. However architectural historian Julius Posener saved it. The Senate of West Berlin rebuilt it for Stanford.
