Founded in 1939 the Greater Bethany Community Church boasts a rich history. It began as a Church of the Apostolic Faith. Bishop Charles Whittiker established the church. He later passed leadership to Elder Irving Bell in 1947. Elder Bell renamed it Bethany Apostolic Church. Tragically he passed away in 1960. His wife Evangelist Mary Bell briefly led the church.
In 1962 Bishop Robert W McMurray took over. He was a powerful figure. He renamed it Bethany Community Church also known as Greater Bethany Community Church. He led for 32 years. His ministry was incredibly impactful. He founded over 16 churches. Countless lives were touched by his preaching and teaching. His legacy continues to this day.
Bishop McMurray passed away in 1994. The charismatic Bishop Noel Jones became the new pastor. Under his leadership membership boomed. In 2003 the church relocated to a larger building in Gardena California. This was to accommodate its growing congregation. The church’s mission is the Ministry of Reconciliation. It’s a place of faith hope and community. Greater Bethany Community Church a beacon of spiritual guidance for decades. It continues to serve the community. The church is a testament to the enduring power of faith. It’s a place of solace and strength for many people. A place where people can find community and peace.
