Should we pause a moment at this peaceful spot? This is Yonsei University Samae Campus. It is a hidden gem of Yonsei University.

Yonsei University Samae Campus began in 1967. It started as Samae Agricultural Technology School. Reverend Bae Min-su founded it with the Samae spirit. This spirit embodies love for God love for neighbor and love for work.

After Reverend Bae’s passing his family donated the land. In 1976 the land was given to Yonsei University. This donation created the Samae Campus. It spans approximately 180000 square meters.

The campus has several notable buildings. Bae Min-su Memorial Hall was built in 1980. Today it is known as Samae Church. Cheonmundae was also established in 1980. A sports complex was added in 2000. Samae Church was founded in 2006.

Today the Samae Campus includes Cheonmundae. It also features two sports fields and Samae Church. Cheonmundae is primarily used by the Department of Astronomy and Space Science. Nearby schools use it for field trips.

The sports fields serve as training grounds for athletic teams. However facilities are somewhat lacking. This causes inconvenience for students.

Bae Min-su Memorial Hall honors Reverend Bae Min-su. It has two floors above ground and one below. It was completed in December 1980. In 2006 the memorial hall became Samae Church. A memorial exhibition room was added on the second floor. It reopened on September 17 2006. This coincided with the founding of Samae Church.

The sports complex was built in 2000. It includes a soccer field a rugby field and a baseball field. These meet international standards. Auxiliary facilities include training fields and a domed batting cage.

Cheonmundae was established in December 1979. It supports the astronomy program. The Ilsan Observatory has a 61cm reflecting telescope. It serves as a training facility. Nearby schools use it for experiential learning.

Yonsei University Samae Campus embodies the spirit of truth and freedom. The university motto reflects this. It encourages students to seek truth. It urges them to live freely. This campus stands as a testament to Reverend Bae Min-su’s vision. His legacy of love and service continues to inspire.
