“Make Disciples, Impact Our World” is the bold mission of the Tabernacle of David. This relational church stands as a beacon in Kuala Lumpur. We are standing before a place of community, faith, and outreach.
The Tabernacle of David had humble beginnings. It was formerly known as Siloam Assembly of God. Pastor David Swan pioneered it in October 1976. In its first decade, the church planted eight other outreaches. It also raised up numerous full-time workers.
In 1987, the church experienced a powerful Divine visitation. This happened after a season of sustained prayer. During this visitation, the Lord gave the church a new anointing. He also gave it a new name. The name “Tabernacle of David” signaled the church’s new ministry and destiny.
The Tabernacle of David emphasizes several core values. These are Worship, Word, Work, and Win. It is a church connected to Christ. Its members are connected to one another as the body of Christ. They strive to work together. They believe they can accomplish more together than apart.
Here at Tabernacle of David, the main service takes place every Sunday at 10:30 am in Hall 1. This 90-minute experience is designed around music and message. A live band and worship team play the music. The message is Bible-based practical and relevant.
For teenagers, there is TOD Youth Alive. They meet in Hall 2 at 10:30 am. Youths join the main service on the first Sunday of each month. On other weeks, they have their own worship and youth sessions. The goal is to nurture each member. They grow in wisdom, faith, and character.
The Tabernacle of David also has a Children Centre. It is for children aged 12 and below. It offers a safe and fun place where children can learn about Jesus and the Bible. Pastor Catherine leads a team of dedicated teachers. They ensure the children enjoy a service tailored for their age group.
Several pastors lead the Tabernacle of David. Jason Yeong is the Chairman and a Lay Pastor. Irene Chong and Tan Lay Kim are also pastors. Catherine Tong is a Lay Pastor. She also oversees the Children’s Centre.
The Tabernacle of David believes in the Bible. They believe it is Divinely inspired and the authoritative Word of God. They also believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ. They believe in the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit. This includes signs, wonders, miracles, and spiritual gifts.
The church actively engages with the community. They contribute their skills and resources to help others. They impact others with God’s values. They bring Christ to meet their needs.
The Tabernacle of David envisions rivers of living water flowing out of its members’ lives. This happens at the church, at home, and outside the church. Members pray for one another. They express joy and participate in teaching worship and prayer.
As we conclude our visit to the Tabernacle of David remember its mission. It seeks to equip believers to be disciples. They will impact the world. It stands as a testament to faith community and the power of working together for a common purpose.
