Stepping into the vibrant energy of Dusseldorf, one can’t miss the Christliches Zentrum Dusseldorf. It’s more than just a building. It’s a testament to a vision, a vision of a church relevant to modern times. Originally called Christliches Zentrum Dusseldorf (CZD), this evangelical free church was founded in 1991 by Peter and Renate Riedl. Their aim was simple yet profound: to make faith a tangible, everyday experience. The Christliches Zentrum Dusseldorf sought to bridge the gap between traditional church and contemporary life. They envisioned a community where faith wasn’t confined to Sunday services, but woven into the fabric of daily existence. This vision resonated, fostering a vibrant community centered around shared faith and genuine connection. Over the years, the Christliches Zentrum Dusseldorf evolved. It drew inspiration from various sources, including the Credo Kirche Wuppertal, the Hillsong network, and the Church on the Highlands in the USA. This cross-pollination of ideas and practices led to a dynamic shift, shaping the church into the thriving hub it is today. By 2014, Bernhard and Febe Olpen joined the Dusseldorf community. Their arrival marked a new chapter, contributing to the development of a fresh generation of leaders. The Christliches Zentrum Dusseldorf embraced a multiplicative approach, expanding beyond its original location. In 2019, they established a campus in Mönchengladbach. This expansion solidified their commitment to reaching a wider audience and fostering a sense of belonging across multiple communities. In 2021, the church underwent a name change. It became known as Fokus Kirche, signaling a renewed focus on making faith relevant and accessible. This transition reflected their ongoing commitment to evolving with the times. The Christliches Zentrum Dusseldorf, now Fokus Kirche, stands as a testament to the power of vision and adaptability. It continues to serve as a beacon of faith in Dusseldorf, welcoming all who seek a meaningful connection to spirituality and community.
