Could a church built in the 1920s already be considered historic? Here in Milan, the Chiesa parrocchiale di Santa Teresa del Bambin Gesù certainly can. You see, this church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a symbol of resilience for the Gorla neighborhood. In 1922, the idea for this church was first conceived. Engineer Fausto Strada designed the Chiesa parrocchiale di Santa Teresa del Bambin Gesù as a beacon of faith for the growing community. However, the construction faced a chilly start. Work began on a frigid Christmas night in 1927. Imagine the dedication of those workers, braving the cold to bring this house of worship to life. Just a year later, in January 1928, Cardinal Eugenio Tosi elevated the church to parish status during a special Holy Forty Hours observance. The Chiesa parrocchiale di Santa Teresa del Bambin Gesù is dedicated to Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus. She is considered the protector of Gorla and her presence is deeply felt within these walls.
