Hidden within Dusseldorf’s bustling Pempelfort district, St. Rochus-Schule stands as more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a vibrant hub where young minds blossom and families connect. St. Rochus-Schule isn’t just a school. It’s a daycare center catering to 63 children, from toddlers as young as two to those ready to embark on their school adventures. This place, established in 1984, has witnessed generations grow, learn, and play within its spacious walls and expansive outdoor area. Imagine children exploring the various play areas within the school, each designed to spark their imagination. One moment they’re engrossed in role-playing, the next they’re building magnificent structures, and then they’re diving into the world of science through hands-on experiments. The dedicated team at St. Rochus-Schule, composed of skilled social-pedagogical professionals and trainees, continually adapt these spaces to match the children’s current interests. St. Rochus-Schule understands the demands of modern family life. It acknowledges that most of its young attendees have working parents. That’s why the school remains open from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. They offer both 35-hour and 45-hour weekly care options to provide flexibility for busy families. The school also recognizes the need for family time. Annual closures are limited to three weeks during the summer school holidays and the period between Christmas and New Year’s. A few additional days are reserved for staff training and outings, ensuring the team remains at its best. Now, step outside with me and envision the vast outdoor playground at St. Rochus-Schule. Picture children running freely across the expansive lawn, their laughter echoing in the air. Watch them climb the rope landscape, soar on the nest swing, or dig in the sandboxes. A thrilling hill slide and a messy play area add to the fun, encouraging a wide range of movements and boosting motor skills. St. Rochus-Schule believes in nurturing the whole child. The outdoor space isn’t just for play. It’s a living classroom for environmental education. Trees, shrubs, and colorful flower beds introduce children to the wonders of nature’s cycle. They even have a chance to cultivate their own fruits and vegetables, learning about growth and responsibility through hands-on experience. At St. Rochus-Schule, the focus isn’t solely on academics. It’s about fostering individual growth and development for each child. Through play and exploration, children build self-awareness, social skills, and confidence. Regular individual and small-group activities enhance learning in areas like movement, creativity, and understanding the natural and cultural world. The school also places a strong emphasis on language development, using specialized programs to ensure every child has a voice. Furthermore, religious education is woven into the fabric of St. Rochus-Schule, making faith tangible and relevant for young hearts.
