Imagine a symphony of water. It dances before you at the Fountains of Bellagio. This incredible spectacle combines music light and the raw power of water.

The Fountains of Bellagio is more than just a water show. It is a carefully choreographed performance. It expresses the romantic spirit of the Bellagio resort. Steve Wynn conceived the idea. He wanted a grand water feature. The design firm WET brought his vision to life. Construction began in 1995. The Fountains of Bellagio opened with the resort on October 15 1998. The project cost $40 million. This made it one of the most expensive fountains ever built.

The Fountains of Bellagio quickly became a Las Vegas icon. People flock to see the free shows. Shows happen every 30 minutes in the afternoon and every 15 minutes in the evening. The Fountains of Bellagio has appeared in many films. It is one of the most photographed places in the United States.

The Fountains of Bellagio lake is 8.5 acres. It is loosely based on Italy’s Lake Como. The lake holds 22 million gallons of water. The Fountains of Bellagio uses well water and water from the resort’s aquatic show. This saves water. The Fountains of Bellagio shoots water as high as 460 feet. The show uses 1214 water nozzles and 4792 lights. Ten compressors power the fountains. The system adjusts for wind to keep the show synchronized.

The music at the Fountains of Bellagio is as important as the water. Speakers are built into lampposts around the lake. Each show features different music. Genres include pop rock and classical. Popular songs include “Time to Say Goodbye” and “Viva Las Vegas.” New songs are added occasionally. The choreography for each song is stored on computers. It can take a week to choreograph two minutes of music.

Behind the scenes a dedicated team keeps the Fountains of Bellagio running. They work in a hidden area called the Batcave. The team includes technicians electricians and welders. All team members are trained scuba divers. They maintain the fountains and retrieve lost items. Tourists throw coins into the lake. The coins are collected and donated to charities.

The Fountains of Bellagio has hosted many events. Stages are built on the lake for musical performances. Britney Spears Drake and Panic at the Disco have performed here. Richard Branson once rode a jet ski across the lake. A kabuki show was performed on a floating stage. The NFL Draft and NHL All-Star Skills Competition have used the lake.

The Fountains of Bellagio has become a must-see attraction. TripAdvisor ranked it as the top tourist attraction in the U.S. Las Vegas Weekly called it the city’s best attraction. The Fountains of Bellagio is an unforgettable experience. It combines art engineering and the beauty of water. It is a true Las Vegas landmark.
