Picture this. You are standing in Ronggui a bustling subdistrict in Shunde. Ronggui isn’t just any place. It’s a powerhouse of Chinese industry. It’s a place where history meets modernity.
Ronggui’s story begins long ago. It was once two separate towns Rongqi and Guizhou. They were small villages part of Shunde County. This was way back in 1452 when Shunde itself was founded. In 1928 Rongqi became a town. Guizhou remained a village under Rongqi’s administration. Then in 1959 both became people’s communes. The commune system ended in 1983. Rongqi and Guizhou went back to being towns. Finally in 2000 they merged to form the Ronggui subdistrict we know today.
This merger wasn’t just about administration. It brought together a unique history. Ronggui is now a major producer of electrical appliances. Think Rongsheng Hisense Kelon Wanjiale Galanz and Wanhe. These major appliance manufacturers all call Ronggui home. Their headquarters stand as a testament to Ronggui’s economic success.
Ronggui’s transformation isn’t just about industry. It has unique architecture too. There’s the Shusheng Bridge built in the 18th century. It’s unlike any other. It’s made from the roots of a banyan tree. Villagers cleverly used the roots to bridge a river. The roots grew larger and stronger over time. Eventually they added planks creating a functional bridge. It’s a remarkable example of ingenuity and resourcefulness.
Then there’s the Guizhou Wenta a magnificent tower. Built in 1794 this seven-story hexagonal structure once stood alone. But in 2007 it was restored. Now a library swimming pool and basketball court surround it. This shows how the past and present thrive together in Ronggui. This blend of old and new defines the charm of Ronggui. The subdistrict is a living testament to its dynamic past and vibrant present. It continues to evolve as a vital part of China’s economic landscape.
