The golden Chedi gleams. It beckons you closer to Wat Laksi.

Wat Laksi a temple under royal patronage stands proudly in Bangkok. Mon people built it in 1878. They immigrated from Hongsawadi in present-day Myanmar. They chose this spot for their new spiritual home. A traveling monk Archarn Roem became its first chief monk. The temple was initially called Wat Luang Phor Roem. Later it was renamed Wat Laksi.

Wat Laksi’s story is rich with fascinating details. The Golden Pagoda houses Buddha’s relics. Celebrated artist Mr Chaloemchai Khositphiphat painted its interior. The temple received the Exemplary Developed Temple Award in 1991. This was a great honor from the Department of Religious Affairs.

A significant figure in Wat Laksi’s history is Luang Pu Khao. He was the second chief monk. Legend credits him with magical powers. King Rama V even visited him. This happened during the King’s boat trip to open the Prem Prachakorn Canal. A special Phra Wihan houses a statue of this revered monk. Many come to pay their respects to this powerful figure. His influence shaped the temple’s destiny.

Wat Laksi continues to thrive. It is a spiritual center for many. Its history and beauty draw visitors from far and wide. This is more than a temple. It is a living testament to faith perseverance and the enduring spirit of the Mon people.

The golden light of the setting sun reflects off the Chedi. Its glow adds to Wat Laksi’s majestic presence. It is a place of peace reflection and spiritual renewal. Wat Laksi’s story continues to unfold. It is a story etched in gold. A story waiting to be rediscovered by each new visitor.
