What if I told you a church’s journey could mirror a seed’s growth? Outlook Christian Church, right here in Whiteside, embodies this idea. It began as a small seed in Toowoomba in 2010, nurtured by founding Pastor John Merriweather. A group of just 18 people gathered on Anzac Day at the Queensland Government’s Department of Agriculture and Fisheries building in Rockville. Outlook Christian Church’s roots were firmly planted in the desire to be a Bible-based, family-friendly, and outreach-focused church. The church blossomed, outgrowing its initial location after two years. It then moved to the Callaghan Centre at St Saviour’s College in Toowoomba South. This new space allowed for further growth and the launch of ministries like Outlook Youth. Change continued to shape Outlook Christian Church. In 2020, Pastor Brent Van Mourik took the lead after Pastor Merriweather’s retirement. After navigating the challenges of 2020’s lockdowns, the church found a temporary home at the Rumours International Convention Centre in Toowoomba City. Pastor Brent’s leadership during a revisioning process in 2021 proved invaluable. Yet another transition occurred in 2023 with Pastor Brent’s departure. Pastor Nick Lloyd arrived in December 2023, ushering in a fresh season for Outlook Christian Church. Through these various locations and leadership changes, the church’s core mission has remained constant: to see people become fully devoted followers of Jesus. This commitment to growth, adaptation, and community continues to guide Outlook Christian Church today, right here in Whiteside.
