Mexican artist Leonardo Nierman created the Flama de la Solidaridad. His work has been exhibited worldwide. In fact, you can find Nierman’s art in numerous museums across the United States, Italy, Israel, Spain, Australia, Japan, and of course, Mexico. Unveiled in 1982, the sculpture was later dedicated to the victims and survivors of Hurricane Gilberto. The hurricane left a path of devastation in its wake and this monument serves as a reminder of the city’s resilience. It also stands as a symbol of the solidarity shown by the people of Monterrey in the face of tragedy.
