“Connect our community to Christ.” That’s the mission of Palabra de Vida Paul the Apostle right here in Detroit. This isn’t just a church. It is a family working together to worship, grow, invite, love and work.
Palabra de Vida Paul the Apostle is led by Pastor Ryan Kolander. He has served here since 2016. He is married to Sarah and they have two daughters Ella and Nora. Pastor Ryan loves serving the Lord and the Detroit community.
Pastor Ryan graduated from Martin Luther College. He then served a mission in Mexico. Later he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. He loves sports especially basketball and meeting people. He also loves tacos especially those in the neighborhood.
At Palabra de Vida Paul the Apostle worship is central. They gather on Sundays to give worth to God. They listen to God’s Word sing pray and confess sin. Services are held in both English and Spanish. English worship is at 10 am. Spanish worship is at 11:30 am.
Growth is also important at Palabra de Vida Paul the Apostle. They engage every person in growing in grace and knowledge. Bible studies and pastoral visits help deepen their roots in God’s Word. English Bible Study meets on Wednesdays at 8 pm. Spanish Bible Study is on Thursdays at 8 pm. There is also Catechism Class for those 10 years and up on Saturdays at 10 am. Kid’s Grow for ages 5-9 is on the first Saturday of each month.
Inviting others to Christ is a key mission. They reach out to bring others to hear the good news. Loving one another is also essential. They show selfless love through programs and simple gestures. A food drive is held the first Sunday of each month. Clothing drives are ongoing with a large donation in October.
Palabra de Vida Paul the Apostle understands the church is not just a building. It’s the people. They serve as Christ’s body by giving their time talent and treasure. It is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and offers services at its meeting location on Springwells St. Reverend Daniel T Schmidt and Kenneth R Jahnke are also leaders here. This church provides a welcoming and spiritual environment for all.
