Feel the adrenaline pumping. We’re at the Arroyo Grande Pump Track in Henderson Nevada a short ride from the dazzling lights of Las Vegas. This isn’t your average park. It’s a skater’s paradise a smooth asphalt ribbon winding through sculpted hills.
Imagine the thrill of the ride. The Arroyo Grande Pump Track is part of a larger sports complex. It boasts basketball courts disc golf and even horseshoe pits. But the pump track is the star. It’s free to use. The hours though are a bit unusual. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesdays Fridays and Weekends it opens from 2 pm to dusk or 10 am to dusk respectively.
My friend told me it’s like a giant snake bowl. He said the smooth transitions and banked turns make you feel like you’re flying. He loves the continuous workout. There’s no time to rest. The hills keep you pumping and going fast. He compared it to Kona Skate Park in Florida but bigger. The complex also features a larger pump track area designed for BMX bikes and mountain bikes. This section has bigger steeper dirt hills for an even more intense experience.
He described the paved hills as incredibly fun even on a longboard. Although the routes are more limited than on the smaller track. It’s a test of skill and endurance. After a session on the pump track there are miles of paved trails in the surrounding Arroyo Grande Sports Complex. One of these is the Pittman Wash Trail. It parallels a wash and leads to a fascinating concrete aqueduct and a tunnel.
So come on. Let’s experience the Arroyo Grande Pump Track ourselves. Feel the rush of speed the challenge of the hills. Let’s make some memories on this amazing track just outside Las Vegas. Remember to check those quirky hours before you visit.
