Established in 1874, Bergmann & Franz has witnessed Berlin’s transformation. Otto Bergmann and Adolph Franz began their venture amidst a construction boom. Their “Bleirohrfabrik und Röhregroßhandlung Bergmann & Franz” (lead pipe factory and pipe wholesaler) met the city’s surging demand. Here at Bergmann & Franz, the echoes of this history resonate. Initially focused on lead pipes, the company adapted to changing markets. By 1928, Bergmann & Franz shifted its focus to sanitary fixtures. This adaptability proved crucial during challenging times, including inflation and two world wars. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Bergmann & Franz seized new opportunities. They integrated the East Berlin company Berliner Fachhandel in 2000. This move established Bergmann & Franz as the largest medium-sized business in their sector in Berlin and Brandenburg. The company continued to grow. In 2005, they incorporated the tile wholesaler Elsner. In 2006, Haustechnik Fachhandel GmbH Spremberg joined the Bergmann & Franz group. Today, Bergmann & Franz stands as a testament to its founders’ vision and the company’s enduring resilience. They have evolved from a lead pipe factory to a comprehensive provider of sanitary, heating, and tile products. This constant evolution ensures Bergmann & Franz continues to thrive in Berlin’s ever-changing landscape.
