From a modest girls’ school to a co-educational institution, the Tōkai University Fuzoku Shihara Boyo High School has a rich history. It stands as a testament to the enduring vision of its founder, Kajiko Kato. Let’s explore the captivating story of Tōkai University Fuzoku Shihara Boyo High School. Our journey begins in 1889 in Tokyo. Kajiko Kato, a devoted Christian educator, established a school for girls. This marked the humble beginnings of what would become the Tōkai University Fuzoku Shihara Boyo High School. After Kato’s passing, Keiuchi Uchimura took the helm. He established Seika Gakuen in 1901. The school was renamed Seika Higher Girls’ School in 1908. Through the years, Tōkai University Fuzoku Shihara Boyo High School endured many changes. It weathered the storms of war and societal shifts. After World War II, the school system underwent reforms. Seika Gakuen became Seika Gakuen Girls’ Junior and Senior High School. The school’s history is deeply intertwined with the city of Shinjuku. Its influence can be seen in the many singers and actresses who once graced its halls. Due to redevelopment in the western Shinjuku area, the school relocated to Hagiwara in Shinjuku Ward in 1969. Another move brought the school to its current location in Chiba’s Shihara City in 1973. It was renamed Seika Gakuen Second Girls’ Junior and Senior High School. A significant turning point arrived in 1974 when Tōkai University took over. Shigeharu Matumae, President of Tōkai University, became Chairman. The school adopted the name Tōkai Seika Girls’ Junior and Senior High School in 1975. In 1977, it became Tōkai University Seika Girls’ High School. A major milestone occurred in 1986 with the transition to co-education. The school was renamed Tōkai University Fuzoku Boyo High School. The school underwent further transformation. In 2016, it received its current name, Tōkai University Fuzoku Shihara Boyo High School. A six-day school week, a trimester system, and a revised uniform were introduced. Tōkai University Fuzoku Shihara Boyo High School is not just an educational institution. It is a hub of extracurricular activities. Students excel in baseball, soccer, swimming, tennis, kendo, judo, archery, and many other fields. The school’s green school color symbolizes growth, harmony, and the vibrant spirit of its students. The school’s cultural festival, once a two-day event, is now spread over two separate days, providing even more opportunities for the community to engage with the school’s lively atmosphere. This demonstrates Tōkai University Fuzoku Shihara Boyo High School’s commitment to connecting with the wider community.
