In 1954, a seed of a dream was planted in Delhi. This seed was the Faculty of Management Studies. It began under the guidance of Professor A. Dasgupta. The Faculty of Management Studies started as a modest venture. It offered a three-year, part-time postgraduate management program. This program catered to working executives. It was initially housed within the Delhi School of Economics. The Delhi School of Economics was one of four centers recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education to provide management education in India. The Faculty of Management Studies’ first professors received training at the prestigious Stanford Graduate School of Business. This laid a strong foundation for the institution. The Faculty of Management Studies has since expanded its offerings. It now provides a full-time MBA program. It also offers an Executive MBA and an Executive MBA in Healthcare Administration. Additionally, doctoral programs are available for advanced studies. The Faculty of Management Studies goes beyond traditional business management. It aims to cultivate thought leadership combined with a practical understanding of the business world. Its teaching approach incorporates a mix of fieldwork, case studies, and feedback. It emphasizes concepts and theories. This approach fosters intellectual curiosity and open-mindedness. The Faculty of Management Studies has a distinguished alumni network. This network includes prominent figures like Harit Nagpal, MD & CEO of Tata Sky. It also includes Ira Singhal, UPSC topper in 2014, and Sandip Das, Managing Director of Reliance Jio Infocomm. The Faculty of Management Studies stands as a testament to its commitment to quality education. It is consistently ranked among the top business schools in India.
