Dare to imagine Fliegenberg in 1310. It was then known as Vlegenberch. This marks the first recorded mention of this place. Today we stand in Fliegenberg. It is a village in the municipality of Stelle. Stelle is in the district of Harburg in Lower Saxony.

Fliegenberg has around 1,050 residents. This number was recorded on May 19, 2021. The village is located north of Stelle. It sits along the Elbe River. Rosenweide borders Fliegenberg to the west. To the east lies Hoopte. Hoopte is part of Winsen an der Luhe.

Until 1972, Fliegenberg was an independent municipality. Then, it was integrated into the municipality of Stelle. This happened during a district reform.

Fliegenberg has a rich history of local leadership. Johann Peter Pahl was mayor from 1868 to 1892. Peter Reimers followed. He served from 1892 to 1904. Johann Peter Sievers then took office. His first term was from 1904 to 1919. August Dittmer was mayor from 1919 to 1923. Sievers returned for a second term. He served from 1923 to 1928. Hermann von Deyn held the office from 1928 to 1943. Peter Reimers Jr. served from 1943 to 1946. Ferdinand Marwitz was the last mayor before the integration. He was in office from 1946 to 1972.

More recently, Uwe Sievers was mayor of Stelle from 2011 to 2016. Robert Isernhagen has been mayor since 2016.

Fliegenberg is home to active clubs. There is the MTV Germania Fliegenberg. This is a sports club. There is also a Faslamsverein.

The Steggemeinschaft Fliegenberg has a pier. It is located at Elbe kilometer 601.4. This spot was once an emergency harbor. It belonged to the inland navigation guild. The pier is near one of the few water ski areas on the Elbe.

The pier can accommodate boats. The maximum boat length is 12 meters. The maximum boat width is 3.75 meters. The water depth ranges from 1.5 to 4 meters.

Overnight stays cost 0.50 Euro per meter. A month costs 50 Euro. A season costs 300 Euro. The “Von Deyn” restaurant is nearby. There are no water or electricity hookups. Hermann Sievers can be contacted for more information. His phone number is 04174-3818.

Fliegenberg combines history with community spirit. Its location on the Elbe adds to its charm. This is a place where tradition and modern life meet.
