Elevated on a small hill near the Igreja Matriz stands the Capela de Santana. This chapel, nestled in Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos, has witnessed centuries of history. The current structure of Capela de Santana dates back to a rebuild between 1762 and 1768. But its roots run deeper. Records mention the Capela de Santana’s existence as early as 1623. More recently, between 2010 and 2012, the Capela de Santana underwent a careful restoration, ensuring its preservation for future generations. The area surrounding the Capela de Santana comes alive every year from July 26th to the first Sunday of August. This is when the traditional festivities in honor of Sant’Ana take place. The Festarte, an ethnographic festival organized by Rancho Típico da Amorosa, adds to the vibrant atmosphere.
