The name Zhaitang translates to Buddhist Dining Room. This name dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Lingyue Temple offered meals to travelers then. Imagine weary travelers finding respite here.

Zhaitang’s story is etched in its very foundations. For centuries, it was part of Wanping County, bearing witness to countless changes. In 1952, it became part of Jingxi Mining District. Later in 1958, it joined Mentougou District. Zhaitang Town was officially founded in 1990. It further expanded in 1994 by incorporating Yanhecheng Township and later Junxiang Township in 2001.
