Did you know that the Politz Hebrew Academy wasn’t always filled with the joyful sounds of children learning? It once stood as a very different kind of institution. The current building, a stately brick structure with a hipped roof, was actually built in 1915. This was long before Politz Hebrew Academy came into existence. Back then, it was known as the Fayette School. This grand old building has seen generations of students pass through its doors, each leaving their own mark on its history. Over time, the Fayette School closed its doors. The building stood silent for a while, waiting for its next chapter. Then, in 1982, a group of visionaries saw the potential in these sturdy walls and the spacious classrooms. They founded the Politz Hebrew Academy. Their dream was to create a place where Jewish children could thrive. A place where they could receive a quality Orthodox Jewish Day School education, steeped in the values and teachings of the Torah. And so, the Politz Hebrew Academy was born, breathing new life into this historic building. Today, laughter and the sounds of learning fill the halls once more. It’s a testament to the enduring power of education and the importance of community.
