They formed the McAshan and City Mission Methodist Church. Their first sanctuary? Built in 1900. A devastating storm destroyed it the same year. Undeterred they built again. A new sanctuary rose in 1901.
The church’s name changed often. It became McAshan and Brunner Methodist in 1904. Then Brunner Methodist in 1906. Later Brunner and Epworth Methodist in 1913. The name finally changed again in 1942. It became Shepherd Drive Methodist Church. A name that reflects its location and enduring presence. The church acquired more land in 1940. This land included a parsonage. It provided a full block of frontage on Shepherd Drive.
