“A comprehensive training base offering Cambodian students both Chinese proficiency training and vocational skills.” That’s quite a mouthful. Today, we’re standing before the Confucius Institute of Cambodia University of Technology and Science. It is also known as CICUTS.
CICUTS plays a vital role in Cambodia-China education. It sits here on the 13th Floor of Olympia City. This is in Veal Vong, 7 Makara. CICUTS is more than just a university. It’s a bridge connecting Cambodian students to opportunities.
The Federation of Khmer Chinese in Cambodia and Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology jointly founded CICUTS. This partnership shows the importance of international collaboration in education. The goal of CICUTS is to offer Cambodian students Chinese proficiency training and vocational skills. This focus prepares them for a globalized world.
In May 2023, a significant agreement was signed. CICUTS and five major Cambodian enterprises established a comprehensive training base. Cambodia Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., ZTO Express Cambodia, and Smile Shop were three of the five enterprises. Linkkhmer software and Cambodia ASEAN International Institute were also involved. This collaboration ensures students receive practical training.
Som Ratana, a Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports undersecretary, highlighted the base’s importance. He said it will play an important role in training technical talents in Cambodia. Luong Chan Huy is the rotating Chair of the Federation of Khmer Chinese in Cambodia. He said this cooperation fits within the China-Cambodia “Diamond Hexagon” framework. Xie Yonghua, NJUIT President, emphasized the opportunity for students. The base allows students to learn theories and practices.
CICUTS aims to deepen teaching reform. It wants to optimize the talent training model. The institute wants to strengthen Cambodia-China cooperation. CICUTS wants to build a Cambodia-China community. This focus on friendship will pass on from generation to generation.
CICUTS offers vocational skills to local talents. It improves the employment competitiveness of Cambodian students. The institute produces capable talents for enterprises in Cambodia. This benefits both the students and the Cambodian economy.
As we conclude our visit to CICUTS remember its important mission. It shapes the futures of Cambodian students. It strengthens the bonds between Cambodia and China. This institute exemplifies the power of education. It fosters international cooperation. It prepares students for a global future.
