Journey with me to the northwestern corner of Cần Giuộc district. Here lies Xã Long Thượng, a place where the urban hum of Ho Chi Minh City fades into the tranquil countryside. Xã Long Thượng isn’t just a name on a map. It’s a vibrant community, a testament to the resilience and spirit of its people. Xã Long Thượng covers nearly eight square kilometers. In 1999, over 8,000 people called this place home, creating a density of about 1,008 people per square kilometer. Imagine the tapestry of lives woven together within this space. Xã Long Thượng is more than just statistics. It’s a place divided into four distinct ấp, each with its own unique character: Long Hưng, Long Thới, Long Thành, and Tân Điền. These names resonate with history and tradition, whispering tales of generations past. As you stand at the edge of Xã Long Thượng, look towards the east and north. The sprawling metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City stretches out before you, a stark contrast to the peaceful agricultural landscape. To the west lies the commune of Phước Lý, while to the south, Mỹ Lộc, Phước Hậu, and Cần Đước district paint a picture of rural Vietnam. Xã Long Thượng sits at this crossroads, a bridge between the bustling city and the serene countryside. It is a place where the old ways meet the new, where tradition dances with progress. The story of Xã Long Thượng is still being written, a testament to the enduring spirit of Vietnam.
