Longing for adventure? Then listen to the tale of Bright Moon Peak. It is a unique symbol of Yangshuo. The peak attracts visitors from everywhere.

Bright Moon Peak stands 380 meters above sea level. The hill itself stretches 230 meters high and 410 meters long. It got its name from the round cave at its peak. From afar, the cave looks like a bright moon illuminating the sky.

The story of Bright Moon Peak goes back to Chinese legends. It speaks of a Guanghan Palace on the moon. This is where the beauty Chang’e, the Jade Rabbit, and Wu Gang the woodcutter reside. People once believed they could see these immortals on the moon’s surface. Maybe you will see them too.

To reach the Moon Cave, you will need to climb about 800 marble steps. These steps, finished in 1981, are known as the Appreciating Moon Path. The climb takes about 20 minutes. When you reach the cave, you’ll see stalactites in various shapes. Some look like Buddha warrior attendants. Others resemble jade rabbits or even the goddess of the moon. This creates a scene reminiscent of the moon palace from Chinese legends.

As you ascend the Appreciating Moon Path, different views unfold. The moon’s shape changes. You might see a full moon, a half-moon, or a crescent moon.

On sunny days, the blue sky and white clouds create a beautiful backdrop. On rainy days, mist rises from the valley.

From the summit, the panoramic view is breathtaking. Mountains, rivers, fields, and peasant houses stretch out before you.

Bright Moon Peak is also called Bright Moon Peak in Chinese. At night, the 50-meter-wide tunnel at the top looks like a bright moon. If you are lucky enough to be here at night, be sure to look up.

For those seeking more adventure, Bright Moon Peak offers rock climbing. There are 14 rock-climbing routes on the northwest side. The first route was pioneered in 1992. Route number 14 is one of China’s most challenging natural rock climbs.

Richard Nixon and his wife climbed Bright Moon Peak in 1972.

Bright Moon Peak is more than just a hill. It is a place of legends, stunning views, and thrilling adventures. Take your time to explore. Let Bright Moon Peak leave a lasting impression on your heart.
