Once upon a time, this very building was not a school. Today, it is the Schule bei der Botschaft der Russischen Föderation. This school serves the children of the embassy staff. But its story began long before it became an educational institution.

Let’s step back in time to the 1840s. Around that time, this building was erected as a residential building. Later, in 1871, it transformed into the Hotel Windsor. It was a simple hotel with around 90 rooms. The Hotel Windsor stood at the corner of Kleine Mauerstraße. This street connected Behrenstraße with Unter den Linden until 1950.

In 1925, the building was repurposed. It became the “Klub der Beamten der Deutschen Bank”. This club provided meals and social gatherings for the bank’s employees. It was conveniently located near the Deutsche Bank complex. In 1937, the name changed. It became the “Kameradschaftshaus der Deutschen Bank” for ideological reasons.

World War II brought destruction. Nearby administrative buildings were damaged. However, this building remained largely intact. As a result, the board and central offices moved here. In 1946, the Soviet occupying forces took over the building. Then, in 1950, it underwent another transformation. It was converted for use as a school.

Today, the Schule bei der Botschaft der Russischen Föderation stands here. It is a protected historical landmark as part of the Dorotheenstadt ensemble. The address of the Schule bei der Botschaft der Russischen Föderation is Behrenstraße 64-65, 10117 Berlin. The school is operated by the Botschaft der Russischen Föderation. You can even call them at +4930 229-94-42.

The Russische Botschaft plays an important role. It is the main diplomatic representation of the Russian Federation in Germany. It is located in the Mitte district of Berlin. The embassy occupies a building complex. This includes the main building on Unter den Linden. It also includes administrative and residential buildings on Behrenstraße and Glinkastraße.

The building displays a rich history. It has seen many changes. From a hotel to a club to a school, it has adapted to the times. The Schule bei der Botschaft der Russischen Föderation continues to serve its purpose. It provides education for the children of embassy employees. It remains a significant landmark in Berlin-Mitte.
