Remember LifeGate Church’s humble beginnings? It all started in 2014 with a vision. The vision was to create a family of worshippers right here in Denver.
LifeGate Church began with 45 individuals. They came from Pine Hills Church in Fort Wayne Indiana. These people wanted to establish a place of worship. This was meant to spark a worship movement. It would share the sounds of heaven on Earth.
Initially, LifeGate Church met at Cherry Creek High School. This was in south Denver. They gathered there for five years. But the high school needed the space for renovations. This forced LifeGate to find a new location. They struggled to find one.
Another local church stepped in to help. They offered their space on Sunday evenings. LifeGate organized weekly events. These were called Summer Nights. They included food and fun for the community. LifeGate then returned to the high school. They stayed for two more years. More renovations meant another move.
Finally LifeGate found a permanent home in 2020. This was just ten minutes away from their previous location. The new building gave LifeGate a permanent place. It also gave them a home in the community.
LifeGate subleased the building. They bought it from a church that had moved. Despite the pandemic, they purchased the building in November 2020. The church continued to grow.
LifeGate reaches many young adults aged 19-35. This demographic makes up a large part of the congregation. Combined with children 0-18 years old, they represent over 80% of the church. LifeGate lead pastor Nirup Alphonse connects with these young professionals. He conveys the gospel in a relatable way.
LifeGate Music is an important part of the church. It aims to share the expression of worship. It also wants to spark a worship movement. This movement will manifest the sounds of heaven. They believe heaven will be vibrant and full of different expressions of worship.
In 2023, LifeGate Music released the World Version of Living Hope. This embodies their intercultural community. They worship across cultural and language barriers.
Worship is central to LifeGate’s Christian life. They believe there is only one being worthy of worship. That is the triune God. Their songs and worship aim to make people alive in Christ. They want people to experience the power of His spirit.
Today LifeGate continues to grow. It offers Sunday services at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. They also have ministries for kids and students. LifeGate wants everyone to find a place within their family. They encourage connection through events like Connect in 10. This happens after every gathering.
LifeGate also focuses on prayer. They hold a prayer night every Wednesday at 7pm. This is a time for the community to come together. They seek what the Lord is doing in their community city and world.
LifeGate’s story is one of growth resilience and community. From meeting in a high school to finding a permanent home they have always strived to create a welcoming space for all. As you leave today consider how LifeGate Church has impacted the Denver community and how it continues to spread its message of faith hope and love.
