“Duva, the good wave”. You see this bright and colorful painting on this box. Maybe you have not even noticed it before. But don’t worry, most people miss it. The mural is a little hidden here in Convent Lane, Dun Laoghaire but it’s a hidden gem that deserves to be seen. It’s not easy to find, so you’re lucky today. This particular piece is a recent one, created in 2019 by Jenny Cleary, one of the many artists who work for Dublin Canvas project, which brings art to the streets. The artist really captured the beauty of the sea and the life on the beach in the painting. You will see a flame-haired woman with a sea-blue cape, she is carrying a basket full of seashells. The artist chose vibrant colors to depict her clothes. You can practically feel the soft cloth of her cape. The moody skies and the moving seas in the background reflect the colors of her clothing. It is truly a perfect piece for Dun Laoghaire, which is known for its beach and pier. Once you have had a chance to walk on the pier and see the sea, you will truly feel just how perfect this piece is for its location. You still have a chance to see it. Sometimes some bins are standing in front of it, which make it hard to catch sight of, but it’s well worth a visit.
