George Lane, a knight, once held a substantial portion of Baytown. This was documented back in 1666. It was referred to as “Beantowne or Bewtowne”. He possessed 187 acres in this townland, which fell within the barony of Dunboyne. A few years later, in 1667, a grant was confirmed for the same land, now termed “Baytowne, Bewtowne”. This grant was for Richard, Earl of Arran, and Sir William Petty. The land was intended for Sir George Lane. Baytown appears repeatedly throughout history. Records from 1540, 1561, and 1567 mention it as “Bewton”. One intriguing entry from 1567 details a lease agreement concerning the “tithe corn of Clonye”. This agreement encompasses several locations, including Baytown. By 1770, a certain Charles M’Daniel was associated with Baytown, as recorded in prerogative wills. The 19th century saw numerous mentions of Baytown. Various records from 1836, including maps and surveys, consistently name Baytown. Baytown, located in County Meath, is nestled within the civil parish of Kilbride and the barony of Dunboyne. It sits within the electoral division of Donaghmore. This townland holds the 19,146th spot nationwide in terms of size. Within County Meath, it claims the 615th position. Baytown’s coordinates are 53° 27′ 33″ N, 6° 22′ 49″ W.
