Tucked away in the heart of Detroit, Grace Christian Fellowship has a story as heartwarming as the city itself. Grace Christian Fellowship began humbly in 2014. Several families gathered in living rooms, sharing faith and fellowship. These intimate gatherings soon blossomed into something bigger. The community outgrew their homes. In 2019, a building appeared, a beacon of hope and a testament to their growing congregation. Grace Christian Fellowship transformed the space, preparing it for the launch of their school in 2020. Grace Christian Academy isn’t just a school. It’s a nurturing environment where small class sizes and supportive teachers create a safe and inclusive space. Students thrive amidst today’s diverse influences, receiving a quality education grounded in faith. The story of Grace Christian Fellowship is intertwined with the vision of two men: Darryl Schrock and Scott Stauffer. Darryl felt a calling to support young men lacking father figures, drawing him to Detroit. He partnered with Scott, who shared his passion. Together, they relocated their families in 2014, embarking on a mission to make a difference. To support their families and community, they founded Detroit Junk Busters. This venture not only provided crucial income but also revealed a need for roll-off dumpsters. They began building and renting dumpsters, growing their business and supporting the future school. Recognizing the challenges within the public school system, they saw an opportunity. In 2016, Darryl invited Devon Hartzler to help establish a private school. Devon and his wife, Missy, joined the Detroit community in 2018. With divine providence, funding materialized, and a building was purchased in 2019. After renovations, Grace Christian Academy opened its doors in 2020. Today, Grace Christian Fellowship continues to shine its light in Detroit.
