Craving a taste of history with your meal? Right here we stand before Restaurant zur Dorfaue, a place brimming with stories dating back to 1840. The building first belonged to Regierungsrat Friderici.

Picture this: it’s the late 19th century. Schankwirt Hermann Krause acquires the property around 1890. He expands it six years later. Then in 1905, Gastwirt Albert Schulze takes over. Locals nicknamed him “Padden-Schulze” because his restaurant sat by the village pond filled with “Padden” or frogs.

Albert ran the establishment until his death in 1944. His widow continued until 1962. The Dorfaue remained in the family. However, it was leased out.

Fast forward to December 19, 1993. Tomislav Burazin and Ivan Klemic transformed the Dorfaue into a Croatian restaurant. Tomas ran the restaurant alone beginning June 1, 2004. His wife Jasna Burazin took over on May 29, 2008.

Restaurant zur Dorfaue has Croatian flair. It offers vacation vibes. Around 200 seats are available. About 100 are on the beautiful sun terrace. Friendliness shines.

Restaurant zur Dorfaue has been known for excellent quality. It serves large portions at fair prices. Jasna Burazin heads the kitchen. Her husband Tomislav Burazin serves fresh Croatian specialties. Seasonal dishes are popular. Enjoy wild game in winter. Try dishes with chanterelles and asparagus.

Quench your thirst with original Berliner Fassbrause. You can also enjoy Budweiser, Veltins, Flensburger Pils, and Krusovice Schwarzbier on tap.

Nick A. said that the service was excellent. The family was well looked after. The staff did not seem to mind the children. The interior is almost Bavarian in style. It has nice character decorations and furniture.

Änne Stumpf said that it is hard to believe that there are still meat mountains from Yugoslav restaurants of her childhood. However, apparently a lot does not die out.
