It had a very unusual rectangular design.
But Alimos is most famously linked to Thucydides. He was born in Halimous and often called Thucydides the Halimousian. His bust is the emblem of Alimos. The First High School of Alimos is even named Thoukydideio after him. Thucydides tells of the war between Sparta and Athens in 411 BC. He has been named the father of scientific history.
Kalamaki was once part of Brachami. It became a separate community in 1927. Later in 1968 the community of Kalamaki was abolished. Then the municipality of Alimos was founded.
