The land where Kerrowkeil Methodist Chapel sits was a gift. Mr. and Mrs. John Mercer sold it for a nominal sum. Tradition says that members of the Quayle family hauled stones for its construction. They used horse and cart between the grain and potato harvests.

Early music was provided by Mr. Tom Taggart and his bass fiddle. Kerrowkeil was known for its hearty singing. Even after a harmonium arrived in 1899, Tom and his fiddle continued for many years.

Mrs. Comish recalled a touching story. Two Sunday School scholars over 80 years old each gave 10 shillings. This was a week’s pension. Their families were pleased they could contribute to Kerrowkeil Methodist Chapel renovations. Miss Ella Taggart of Ballagilbert was believed to be the first organist.

Cecil McFee and John Quilliam shared details of the chapel’s history. Kerrowkeil Chapel holds a special place in the hearts of many. It is used each Sunday evening for worship.
