The project faced challenges. The 2007-2008 financial crisis caused significant delays. Many islands remain undeveloped. Lebanon Island is an exception. It hosts private events and parties. The Heart of Europe project is a notable development. It features islands themed after European countries. Luxury resorts and hotels are planned. The islands range in size from 1.4 to 4.2 hectares. They’re separated by about 100 meters of water. The overall cost was estimated at 13 billion Canadian dollars in 2005. Despite setbacks. The World continues to evolve.
