Anlong

Emerging from the Chengdu Plain, Anlong whispers tales of a bygone era. Anlong, once a vibrant town, now rests within the embrace of Qingchengshan Town since December 2019. Established as An Renxian in 620 AD, during the Tang Dynasty, Anlong bore the weight of history, its name echoing the sentiment, “world peace in mind,” a wish for tranquility and benevolence. Governed under the Jiannan Qiong state, Anlong thrived, its identity rooted in the ancient county seat. Anlong remained An Renxian until 1284 AD, when Yuan Dynasty reforms brought it under the jurisdiction of Dayi County. The echoes of influential figures like Liu Wenhui and other military and political leaders resonate through Anlong’s past. Today, Anlong’s legacy endures in the preserved remnants of ancient residential areas and grand estates, spanning approximately 300,000 square meters. Twenty-seven mansions, each a testament to architectural fusion, stand as silent storytellers. Wencai’s Mansion, Liuwenhui’s Mansion, Liuxiang’s Mansion, and Liuyuanxuan Mansion, among others, showcase a captivating blend of traditional West Sichuan design and Western architectural techniques. Quadrangles nestled within quadrangles, high walls guarding secrets, and the vibrant hues of green tiles, gray walls, dark gates, and richly colored windows create a striking visual tapestry. The decorative elements whisper tales of luck, moral principles, and protection from evil. To walk through Anlong is to journey through time, to brush against the tangible remnants of history.
