Right here, in the heart of Avondale, stands Saint Bonaventure Catholic Church. It’s a place of spiritual solace, a sanctuary for the community, and a testament to the enduring spirit of the people. It’s a place where, for over 60 years, people come to celebrate their faith, find peace, and connect with something greater than themselves. The church was built in 1957. The Saint Bonaventure School was added later. The school was founded by Sister Carmel Lynch and Monsignor Michael Duffy. Sister, Carmel became its first principal. She served the school for 29 years. The Saint Bonaventure School is known for its academic excellence. It’s a place where young minds are nurtured and inspired to reach their full potential. Its history, however, transcends its walls. It’s a story of resilience, community, and the unwavering faith of the people of Avondale. While the church welcomes all, those who feel drawn to its presence are part of a powerful and vibrant community. This is where the locals come to find solace and unity, and its doors are always open to all.
