The story of the Dubai Evangelical Church Centre begins with a vision. It started with a small group of Christians who wanted to create a place for evangelical believers. In March 1972 they formed the Evangelical Christian Church of Dubai.
These early members came from various nations. They were united by their faith in the Bible. Many were expat professionals working in oil and gas. Some even came from Al Ain’s Oasis Hospital. This was an evangelical mission hospital. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had requested its founding.
Initially, the congregation met at Holy Trinity Church. Later, they moved to the Dubai American Petroleum School gymnasium. Eventually, they found a temporary home in a villa. It was owned by Sheikha Miriam, the sister of Dubai’s Ruler, Sheikh Rashid. As the city grew, so did the congregation.
The need for a permanent church building became clear. In 1997, their prayers were answered. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum granted land in Jebel Ali for the church. The Dubai Evangelical Church Centre was dedicated on October 24, 2003. Since then, it has been a physical home for the Evangelical Christian Church of Dubai.
Over time, the evangelical community grew. It became too large for a single building. In 2010, Redeemer Church of Dubai was established. In 2012, land was provided for the RAK Evangelical Church.
The Evangelical Christian Church of Dubai has welcomed countless believers. For over 50 years, it has strengthened their faith. People from all over the world have found blessing here.
The Dubai Evangelical Church Centre supports many congregations. About 20 congregations use the centre. Services are held in at least 10 languages. Worshippers come from over 80 nations.
