Named for a generous local woman, who was Elli Lucht? The Elli-Lucht-Park is a green oasis in Frankfurt’s Niederrad district. This park offers a tranquil escape from city life. Let’s explore its story.

In 1985, Frankfurt established this park. It spans approximately three hectares. The park is named after Elli Lucht. She was a Niederrad resident and benefactor. Elli Lucht lived from 1906 to 1975. She supported Niederrad’s youth through donations.

The Elli-Lucht-Park is near the Main River. It lies about 200 meters from the riverbank. Historically, this area was known as Bergstück. It remained undeveloped until the late 19th century. The park is surrounded by a community garden. It also has a residential area and the University Hospital.

Elli-Lucht-Park is Niederrad’s only public green space. The park features young trees. They are arranged around a central lawn. A paved path encircles the area. One grove contains old fruit trees. This grove serves as a bird sanctuary.

You can enjoy various activities here. The Elli-Lucht-Park has a playground for children. There is also a fitness area for seniors. The city of Frankfurt’s Green Spaces Department created it. A local small animal breeding club also resides on the park grounds.

Getting here is easy. The Niederräder Landstraße and Heinrich-Hoffmann-Straße/Blutspendedienst tram stops are nearby. Tram lines 12, 15, and 21 serve these stops. The park is a short walk from either stop. Parking is available on nearby streets. The park is accessible for everyone. You can reach the park from the north. Use Niederräder Ufer and Im Mainfeld streets.

Niederrad is part of Frankfurt’s Green Belt. This conservation area covers about 8,000 hectares. It includes the Frankfurt City Forest. This is one of Germany’s largest inner-city forests.

The Elli-Lucht-Park offers a space for relaxation. It is a tribute to Elli Lucht. Remember her generosity as you wander through this green space. This park is a testament to community and nature.
